The Caucasus Mountains' highland is a very rough country. It is a place to test yourself. Three species of Tur inhabit these remote areas. The most numerous Dagestan, or Eastern tur is a bit smaller in body size and has darker skin and shorter beard. Horns have smooth surface, are rounded in cross cut and curve just above the neck.
We hunt Dagestan tur in Azerbaijan, in very well-known Sheki area. Average trophy size is 30-35-inch (75-90 cm), with giants up to 40+ inches (100 cm).

Three species inhabit these remote areas. Kuban (Western) tur, named after Kuban River and area around, inhabits North-West Caucasus, on the heights from 2,500 to 13,000 feet (800-4,000 m). You may expect to get 30-35-inch (75-90 cm) trophy, with hope for 40-inch (100 cm) giant.

Mid-Caucasian tur, intermediate form between Kuban and Dagestan, inhabits Central Caucasus, east from Elbrus Mount, on the heights from 2,500 to 13,000 feet (800-4,000 m). You may expect to get 30+ inches (75+ cm) trophy.
You can fly to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, through Istanbul, Frankfurt or Moscow. We will meet and help you with custom formalities. Depends of arrival time, it will be overnight in Baku, or same day transfer to the camp. It takes 4-5 hours by van, and another 2-3 hours of horseback ride.
May 01 to October 30, with the best time from May 20-30 to July 30.
Tented camps with kitchen, dining room and generator. In the spike camp, we have a simple propane stove to make hot meals and water. We provide a separate tent for each hunter. You should bring your sleeping bag and pad.
As always in the high mountains, the weather is unpredictable. In August and early September daytime temperatures of 80°F(25°C) can drop to 40°F(5°C) in the nights. The proximity of glaciers and permanent snow influences much. In late September and October daytime temperatures of 60°F/15°C fall to 20°F(-5°C) at night. You can see the first snow at the tops in the beginning of September. Fog and rain are common at this time of the year as well.
It is a spot-and-stalk hunting, done on foot. However, it only sounds effortless. You have to prepare yourself for tough hiking and climbing. Horse ride experience is necessary as well. Improve your shooting skills for a long distance, up to 500-600 yards, with average of 250-350.

You will arrive to Sheremetyevo international airport, Moscow, where we meet and help you with custom formalities. There are few nice hotels, and you will stay in one of them until next day flight to Mineralnye Vody. The flight takes less than two hours. The same day we will drive to the base camp, which we set in the bottom of one of West Caucasus gorges. The next morning we will take horseback to the spike camp in the alpine area.
